I have spent the best part of a year making work in an area of Suffolk that holds a great significance to me and my family. The Shotley Peninsular sits between the river Orwell and the Stour, and I spent my formative years living here with my mother and two sisters.

My grandparents lived in lower Holbrook close to the northern shore of the estuary of the River Stour.

I have many precious memories of these places with a particular fondness for the walks we would take from my grandparents house to the river.

Visiting these sites numerous times this year I have gathered, documented and attempted to record my response to the locations. Using 35mm, medium format and instant film as well as drawing and writing whilst on site.

I’ve explored the river water, earth, mud and clay and used these materials to create alternative camera-less outcomes.
