'REFLECTIONS'

19 Jul 2025
TO
27 Jul 2025
11 - 4 weekends and weekdays by appointment

ROSS HEAD & MARY MACKEN ALLEN

Reflections explores the idea of seeing ourselves in others, a dialogue between the intimate works of Ross Head and Mary Macken Allen. Both artists investigate the boundaries of self, desire, and identity through figurative representation, inviting viewers to confront their own reflections in the work.

Mary Macken Allen’s paintings capture quiet, intimate moments, where the self interacts with its environment. Her work delves into the emotional landscapes of everyday life, offering a meditation on how our surroundings shape our perceptions of self. These reflective spaces prompt us to question the relationship between our inner and outer worlds.

Ross Head’s work, on the other hand, creates spaces where desire and queerness are explored through vulnerable, intimate depictions of masculinity and body image. His art delves into the complexity of identity and connection, offering moments of introspection within his imagined, fantastical environments.

Together, the exhibition asks how we recognise ourselves in others. By bringing together these artists’ explorations of identity and desire, Reflections invites viewers to reflect on their own bodies, emotions, and the connections that define them — blurring the lines between self and other. The exhibition features new work including paintings and drawings.
