This exhibition includes previous work from my last series titled, ‘I see Magic’. Paintings which portray the complexity and beauty of the subconscious spirit. They were in direct response to the challenging years of 2020 and 2021 for the world as a whole.

I am captivated to paint what is ‘in’ me, not what is ‘around’ me. Our psyche is visually imagined in a state of contorted lines, swirling shapes and colours. I paint to translate its essence.

Whilst on my residency from 18th July - 5th August 2022 at Asylum Studios. I continued with a theme of paintings titled ‘Monkey Mind’. These tap into the raw power and energy of emotion. I painted an experimental triptych which pushed further my use of materials and textures. I also gave myself self-imposed pressure to complete the work in the three-week time period whereas a painting can normally take months.

I will be sharing the residency triptych in the exhibition and also work post the experience.
